Close and Cigar

CRICKET, in a lot of ways, is like life and for people like myself who breathe cricket, India's win against England was just oxygen in the purest form. It has been exactly 75 years (to the date) since India played their very first test match on home soil at the Bombay Gymkhana stadium(& beat England) and today we have once again achieved the feat but this time in an even more convincing manner. What makes it very special is that this test match was played just two weeks after the carnage in Bombay and hats off to all the players and organisers for doing a wonderful job.

I don't know how others view this game but to me this game shows that if we stand up together as one team or as one nation, we can achieve anything we want. Till the 4th day afternoon, England were completely dominating the game and left no hope for us to win the game. See what happened today. A tornado of hope in the form of Sehwag, hard work from the little master and brilliant application from Yuvi ensured that most of us were in awe at the end of the day. Goes to show that if Indians have hope, dig in hard and the common man (Yuvi is at the test level when compared to Tendulkar and Sehwag!) applies himself we can fight terrorism and fight it damn well!

Days like these certainly make me proud as an Indian and I am sure that most of you across the World echo my sentiments. Someday, we will fight all the anti-Indian elements(& if you push me I will say anti-Hindu elements) on this earth and remove them forever. That is when we all shall cry out loud and say ,"Close and Cigar"
