Pavi n self went to my office Christmas party last weekend. After a lot of fun at the party, we decided to step it up and landed in Bar36 at the Star city casino at about 12:30 AM on Sunday morning with a few of my colleagues. There was a beautiful chilly breeze as we crossed the road and walked into the casino. So refreshing after the heat wave in Sydney last week!
Anyway, the bar was pretty crowded. We were chatting, sipping our bourbons, watching people dancing on the dance floor and listening to some good music.
Just then my Boss yelled out to me. He said "Look there's Brett Lee!"
I did not believe him to start with. I said, "Nah! you gotta be kidding me. Where?"
He assured me that he was not and pointed me to the counter where people were buying drinks. I walked a bit further and Lo and Behold! There he was!
Thoughts were racing through my mind. The great Aussie fast bowler;terror for many batsmen across the World;has got the best of them OUT;a true athlete;a true champion;a true legend and he was right in front of me with one of his mates.
After a couple of moments, I recovered, said Hello and shook his hands. He gave me a smile and returned the pleasantries. Then turned back and was waiting in the queue to get his drink.
Can you believe this? Brett Lee was just another man in the crowd there. Can you imagine what would have happened if this was in India? As I told my Boss that night, even an Aussie cricketer could not do this in India; Indian cricketers have no chance!
It was so good to see that Binga was just being treated as another human being here in Australia and his privacy was being respected. I think it's high time that we Indians do the same. After all our cricketers also have a life.
Peace.

Ok...here's what confuses me.. You have an office Christmas party a month before Christmas??? So what do u do during the actual Holiday Season?? Or is this just the first of many excuses to go bar-hopping this season??
so cool ajay anna
why dint u get his autograph??
:(
If you treat Indian cricketers the way Aussies treat theirs; I am pretty sure most of them will commit suicides ...... they just can't handle it !!!!
@ carl: We have our party early as Dec is generally the holiday season and most of the employees take off and spend time with their families. The idea for the party is to have as many ppl as possible attending.
@ Uthu : Sorry Uthu!I did not get his autograph. I just wanted to leave him alone.:-)
@ Hari mama : Completely agree!
Bret is a chilled out celeb:) His friendly nature was pretty evident when he did a talk show in dxb a few years back.I asked him a question about his diet to which he answered very patiently.....
Imagine M.S.D and Yuvi were made to wait in a queue for their drinks.....in our dreams !!!
